5/24/2023 0 Comments Stride ahead for dyslexia![]() ![]() I’ve always been very open about my Dyslexia, hoping to help people understand that there are so many strengths to it, but there might need to be a little bit of patience with some other more basic aspects. For me it’s about educating people to understand that Dyslexia is much more than an issue with spelling and reading slower. I replied (a little embarrassed by the call out but appreciative of the recognition, particularly in front of my Boss’s Boss!) that it was my dyslexia that it loves a good puzzle! It got a surprised reaction (perhaps seen as a personal disclosure in an external meeting?) but she replied ‘I love that, such a strengths based approach’. I was recently in a multi-agency meeting last week & was praised by a more established organisation’s manager for some work I had done, saying I was an asset for being able to work on something that was quite challenging. Yeah definitely, it’s a big part of who I am, how I work, so if I don’t have positive feelings around something that I cannot change then it’s going to impact on my mental health.
